The quintessential small town Christmas village is what we're painting today with watercolor! I'm not sure why, but the little winter village is a common scene for puzzles, cards, etc. around this time of year so why not paint a version of it? 🙂

Our little village includes a church with a steeple, a barn, a chairlift (because why not), a log cabin, a pine tree forest, and a red truck pulling a Christmas tree. Yep, I'm throwing in ALL the wintertime village-y things.

There are a lot of details in this but I break it down into simple steps starting from the sketch and composition. I even throw in some fun effects with salt and gouache for snow! It does requires some patience but the outcome is fun and could make a cute card, gift, or seasonal decoration in your home.

And for all you warm-weather readers, I'd love to see your Christmas village! Are you at the beach? Dessert? Tag me on the gram @jennarainey!
