If you follow me at all on Instagram then you know I have a love and deep obsession for researching all things wellness related including health products. When I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in high school, I finally received answers on why I was feeling sick all of the time. But I struggled for YEARS to really get to the root cause of how to reverse my symptoms and feel better. I’ve taken courses, watched countless webinars, binge listened to health podcasts and read tons of books and studies on autoimmune diseases, quantum health, and how our body works on a cellular level. It has absolutely changed my life…and my art!

Roughly 4 years ago I hit a rock bottom with my health. I was covered in hives from head to toe, still struggling with insomnia, panic attacks and intensely crippling migraines. I couldn’t take it anymore. That’s when I became very serious about figuring out what MY body needed to heal.

I’m not a huge fan of gadgets and just masking symptoms with a slew of supplements, but these 5 products below have TOTALLY changed my life—and therefore my art—since using them. How’s that? Well, when you don’t feel well, you don’t paint well, so if you’re curious about which products I’m talking about, read on!

And just as a reminder, I am not a doctor and this information is meant to be educational only and not construed as personal medical advice. Always consult your health practitioner for advice about your individual health concerns!

5 Health Products That Have Changed My Life (And Art!)

#1: Photon Red Light Therapy Device

I’m sure by now you’ve heard of red light therapy if not, here’s a brief little run down. The sun produces infrared and red light. As we have evolved as a species, much of our lives as humans is now spent indoors, removing us from the sun’s healing infrared frequencies of light and placed us under blue light at almost all times of day. We turn on our phones and lights first thing in the morning, go to our jobs in a car, sit under fluorescent lighting at our desk and then turn on the lights again at home at night.

The wavelength or frequency of blue light signals to our cells blue light receptor melanopsin that it’s the middle of the day. The sun produces blue and green frequencies during the middle of the day. So this tells our body’s to increase cortisol levels and other hormones and neurotransmitters that help us run daytime tasks. Having a red light therapy device like this one not only helps with syncing your circadian rhythms, but infrared and red light have been shown to help lower inflammation, improve cellulite and the appearance of scarring and so much more!

Use the code “JENNA5” for 5% off using this link! We use The Photon light and love it! Their saunas are also amazing.

#2: Blue Blocking Glasses

Speaking of blue light, blue blocking glasses have been CRUCIAL for my sleep. When you’re under artificial light at night from screens and also lighting, this sends a signal to your body that it’s not night time, when you should be ramping up melatonin production (and so much more!). So, of course we have sleep issues! We’re exposed to blue light 24/7!! I love these red glasses from Bon Charge for night time…they literally get me sooo sleepy. But if you’re looking for glasses to just block the blue and green frequencies but not get you too sleepy, try the amber/yellow tinted ones! I use those during the day when I’m at the computer!

#3: Castor Oil Packs

I’ve only done castor oil packs a few times, but I have already seen a huge difference in my brain fog and inflammation. Castor oil packs are an ancient remedy where you place a rag with castor oil over an organ, typically your liver and essentially they help your liver detox naturally, along with help your body absorb more nutrients in your food which we all need more help with these days! The castor oil helps stimulate the lymph and detox the liver and kidneys and is best worn overnight. I use The Queen of Thrones packs and they’re organic and amazing!

#4: Household Cleaner

One major aspect of healing for me has been replacing all of the toxic, conventional cleaning supplies like laundry, window cleaner, surface cleaner, etc. with a non-toxic cleaner. When I walk into a room that’s just recently been cleaned with something like Lysol or a conventional cleaner, I get an instant headache and can literally feel my thyroid swell. Some of the synthetic ingredients found in most laundry detergents, surface cleaners, etc. have been shown to cause disruption to our endocrine system/hormones and when your body is already sending mixed signals and underproducing thyroid hormone, I try to my best to stay away from this stuff. I love Branch Basics!

#5: My Standing Desk

Last but not least, my Autonomous standing desk! Our body’s circulatory system, collagen network, lymph system and more need movement and FLOW. Sitting is a modern human’s invention and isn’t something our ancestors did on a regular basis. Why does this matter? Well, sitting causes blockages in our lymph and circulatory system and can cause damage to the fascia and collagen network in our body. Pain and inflammation are one thing that can really prevent me from painting and feeling creative and YES. I love standing and painting!!

    Jenna,
Love these suggestions! As I am looking thru, I’m considering a new desk, and I agree, sitting is Not healthy for long periods of time.
DO YOU HAVE any coupon Codes, for a savings, if I purchase one- and leave your biz name? Thanks!

  2. Marilyn Clayton says:

Standing desk is a winner…especially is you tend to have “short attention span theatre” going on. I also like it when painting as I can easily back away from what I’m doing and take another look ….
