I’m Jenna Rainey.
I’m an author, educator, and artist, living in a three-story work/live loft in southern California with my husband John, two kitties and a little one on the way. Since 2012, I’ve had the pleasure of running and operating my small but mighty design agency, where I’ve had the pleasure of serving some of the best brands out there – Health-Ade, Target, Papyrus, and Penguin Random House (to name a few).
I’m a huge fan of traveling, cooking shows and animal videos on Instagram. I’m a terrible whistler, incredibly sarcastic (I’m a Type 8 on the Enneagram) and I’m hell-bent on empowering the side hustles of others and to show everyone who takes my in-person or online classes that they are creative and they have a story to tell!
My Business didn’t always look like this. Today you can find me writing and painting for my next how-to book with Ten Speed Press, whipping up a pattern for a licensing job, or filming my next online class…but when I quit my corporate cubicle job six years ago to start doing creative entrepreneurship fulltime, I started as a pointed pen calligrapher for weddings. I didn’t paint yet, I had never touched an Adobe design software program in my life, and what’s a contract?! Was I good at calligraphy at this time in my “career”? Nope. But people were hiring me, so I didn’t pay much attention to that.
It has been a long and wild road since I quit my job and started this design agency, but little did I know that taking that risk would lead me to travel the world on a book tour, become an “Instagram Influencer,” and named one of the top creative educators of our day.
In my spare time I enjoy cooking meals for my friends, dreaming up my next big adventure or trip with my husband and business partner, and playing with my old friend: the piano.
